Case Study

02
The folding boxes filled with frozen food are handed over in a lying position, broadside first, onto the infeed conveyor.
Depending on the desired pack pattern, the folding boxes are fed to the grouping
station either lying or standing.
Version a - standing formation
The products are fed to the erecting system via a belt conveyor (27).
The products are erected from lying to standing by a servo-driven star wheel (30).
Vertically arranged side belt straps support the erecting process.
These belts transport the erected products further to the forming station.
A servo-driven lift plate (31) lifts the products out of a backlog and positions them on
stacking latches in front of the main infeed (58).
The split lift plate ensures in dual-lane operation, together with a hold-down device,
that one product remains between the formations when lifted onto the stacking latches,
creating a gap between the formations.
Version b – horizontal formation
The products are fed to the side belt straps via a belt conveyor (27).
The servo-driven star wheel (30) is a format part that is not required for horizontal
formation.
Vertically arranged side belt straps feed the folding boxes to the forming station.
A servo-driven lift plate (31) lifts the products out of a backlog and positions them,
according to the desired stacking pattern, onto stacking latches in front of the main
infeed (58).
The servo-driven main infeed pushes the formed products into the film curtain,
which is created from the top and bottom film.
Servo-driven stretching units dispense the film according to the programmed settings.
The top and bottom film are sealed by sealing bars and then separated by a cutting knife.
The film-stretching technique creates a tightly packed bundle
If required, the lateral film overhangs are shrunk using hot-air blowers.
The bundle secured by the film band is transferred via a conveyor belt to the
downstream process.
• The machine can be operated in single-lane or dual-lane mode.
• All horizontal and vertical movements are servo-driven.
• The star wheel, lift plate and main infeed are servo-driven.
• Conveyor belt speeds are infinitely adjustable.
• Tight packaging thanks to servo-controlled film dispensing.
• All format-dependent parameters are stored in the recipe.
